Why Group Interviews Make sense…

I have a very strict process for hiring new employees.

I believe your team is an extension of you.

If you do a good job they take on your passion and help take it out to the world. Because of this I make sure that when someone joins our team, they are the right one.

The worst thing you can do is show a revolving door of staff to your clients.

Our process goes like this….

1.      Group interview

2.      Individual Interview and an hour to two working in the business

3.      5 to 10 hour boot camp to train and test

4.      Hired!

In this blog I would like to tell you why I believe Group interviews are a must.

First when your interviews show up and realize it is a group interview it is great to see their response. It is easy to see the people that are annoyed by it.

These same people either have a sense of entitlement that they think you're just broke, or only like to do things their way or the “in the box” way.

For me, these are not the people I want.

Next, you get to see their true personality in front of others.

If they are too shy in front of others then you can guarantee they will not be out in the world talking about your company.  Again not typically who I want to hire.

Last, while I do care what they say for their answers as we go around I more care how the people not answering are acting.

Are they paying attention?  Do they show that they genuinely care about people? Are they smiling?  Are they present?  When it is their turn to speak do they put on a totally different persona?

Personally I like to hire, friendly, caring, congruent people.

Group interviews are a quick easy way to find out a lot about your potential hires.  A step you should not skip before sitting down individually with a person.

Your team is an extension of your love for what you do, make sure you have a process to hire the best!

Just a thot.
